PlaayUp App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies specifically to your use of the PlaayUp mobile application ("App") available on the Google Play Store. PlaayUp ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains our data collection, use, and sharing practices in compliance with Google Play Developer Program Policies.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the core functionality of the App (group sports management, expense splitting, and attendance tracking), we collect the following types of information:

  • Personal Information: Your mobile phone number (used exclusively for account creation and OTP authentication), and the display name you choose within the app.
  • Financial Data: Your UPI ID (if provided) to generate peer-to-peer payment links. We do not process payments, collect bank account numbers, or store sensitive financial information.
  • User Content: Group names, session details, and expense records you create within the App.
  • Device Data: Crash logs, diagnostics, and app performance data to improve stability.

2. Android Permissions We Request

The App may request the following permissions on your Android device to function properly:

  • Notifications: To alert you about upcoming sessions, low shuttle fund balances, and expense settlements.
  • Network Access: To sync your group data in real-time with our servers (Supabase).

Note: We do not request background location, contact list access, or microphone/camera access.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used strictly to provide the App's services:

  • To authenticate you securely without passwords.
  • To share your display name and group expenses with other members of your specific sports groups.
  • To generate UPI deeplinks that open your preferred UPI app (e.g., GPay, PhonePe) for peer-to-peer settlement.
  • To troubleshoot bugs and improve app performance.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share data with trusted service providers necessary to run the App:

  • Supabase: Our backend database and authentication provider. Data is stored securely and encrypted at rest.
  • Expo / Firebase: For reliable delivery of push notifications.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers. Our database utilizes Row Level Security (RLS), meaning no user can access data belonging to a group they are not a part of.

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You have the absolute right to delete your account and personal data at any time.

How to request account deletion:

  1. Open the PlaayUp app.
  2. Navigate to Profile > Settings.
  3. Tap "Delete Account" and confirm.

Alternatively, you may email a deletion request to privacy@plaayup.com.

Note on immutable records: Upon deletion, your personal identifiers (phone number, UPI ID) are permanently deleted. However, mathematical records of past expenses may be anonymised and retained only as necessary to preserve the financial ledger balancing for the remaining members of your groups.

7. Children's Privacy

This App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
